The best French school in Dubai

A major asset for expatriate families

Dubai is an Eldorado for the French, of whom there are almost 30,000 according to French Consulate records, making them one of Dubai’s largest communities. This metropolis resembles the idea of the United States as the “American Dream”; Dubai attracts people because of its idea that everything is easy here, which is sometimes mistaken. It attracts for its security, its financial aspect and also its educational side. A large number of French schools are located here.

  • AFLEC International High School

This is a French International Lycée, with a nursery section through to the final year. English and Arabic are taught from the very first classes. Activities include art, theater, music and soccer. For Muslims, religious education is compulsory. There are two sites: the Meydan site, where the international stream kindergarten classes and part of the classical stream kindergarten classes are located. The second site is called Oud Metha, which houses all elementary and secondary classes in both streams, plus part of the kindergarten classes in the classical stream.

Tuition fees range from AED 27,000 to AED 58,600, i.e. from around 6,800 euros to 14,700 euros. The school year runs from September to June. The school’s main focus is on languages, with French, English and Arabic.

  • Georges Pompidou International French School

Il s’agit d’un lycée international Français. Elle est gérée par une association qui s’appelle « Association du Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou ». Chaque parent qui inscrit son enfant dans cette école devient membre de cette association. C’est l’une des écoles les plus réputées de Dubaï. Elle accueille des élèves de maternelles, de primaires et de collège et lycée.

The pedagogy of this school is to reinforce language mastery with at least three languages in addition to French: English, Arabic, Spanish and German. English classes are compulsory from CP onwards. An international section is available from moyenne section. Latin is available from 5th grade. To enroll, you need to fill out the registration form, which can be downloaded from the website or obtained on site. Tuition costs AED 26,500 (approx. 6,600 euros) for kindergarten and AED 48,000 (approx. 12,000 euros) for high school.

  • The International Concept for Education (ICE

This is an international, AEFE-approved school where you can follow either the French or British curriculum. The school ranges from pre-school to the final year. Activities include ballet, basketball, gymnastics, hip-hop, martial arts, soccer, zumba, tennis and visual arts.

The school is located in the heart of Meydan. Tuition fees range from AED 46,000 to AED 85,000, i.e. between €11,500 and €21,000.

  • Private French-speaking Lebanese high school

The school is a French lycée that welcomes students from kindergarten to lycée. To apply, simply download the application form, fill it in and add the required documents. The school is approved by the French Ministry of Education. There are approximately 2834 students. Tuition fees are slightly lower than in other establishments, ranging from AED 38,000 for kindergarten to AED 66,000 for high school, i.e. from around 9,500 euros to 16,500 euros.

  • Jean Mermoz French High School

Classes range from nursery school (petite section) to middle school (collège), including ninth grade. There are 4 classes per level, with around 26 pupils per class. There are around 1,284 students, 56% of them French. They also learn English and Arabic from kindergarten onwards. The school is conveniently located in the Al Quoz district. School fees range from 37,900 AED for the youngest children to 61,000 AED for the largest classes, i.e. from 9,500 to 15,000 euros.
